Honey Lemon Chicken Dippers

Ginger, Fresh, Minced 10 gm 0.4 oz
Cornstarch 85 mL 2.9 Fl oz
Water 50 mL 1.7 Fl oz
Chicken Dippers 2.25 Kg 5 Lbs
Lemon Zest (fine) 15 mL 1 Tbsp

Method

  • 1. In a large pot or skillet, add 250 mL (8.45 Fl oz) water, honey, lemon juice and minced fresh ginger. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes to combine the flavours.
  • 2. Taste the sauce and add a small amount of sugar if too tart or add some lemon juice if too sweet - balance the sauce. Combine the cornstarch and 50 mL (1.7 Fl oz) water into a slurry and use to thicken the sauce.
  • 3. Place the chicken dippers on a greased baking pan, put into a pre-heated 350 F (175 C) oven and bake until heated through (to 160F/70C) and the outside begins to crisp up.
  • 4. Add chicken dippers to the sauce and coat completely, serve hot in a short period of time to maintain some crunch of the chicken dipper. An alternative is to provide the baked chicken dippers with the honey lemon sauce as a side dipping sauce.
