- Cook Italian Sausages on a pre-heated outdoor barbecue or arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet a pre-heated 350 F oven until the sausages have cooked and have reached an internal temperature of 165 F (74 C). Heat the marinara sauce and onions, build the sandwiches with each of these items hot.
- Build the dish by topping each cooked Italian Sausage with carmelized onions and a provolone cheese slice. Place back into the oven and allow the cheese to melt before serving. When plating, serve each sausage with a 1 ounce (30 ml) ladle of marinara sauce (on top or on the bottom of the sausage - optional).
Serve with a toasted crustini of garlic bread and seasoned Italian vegetables (not included in nutritional analysis).
